Automatic Detection of Secondary Creases in Fingerprints

چکیده
Human ngerprints comprise a series of whorls or ridges In some special cases these whorls are broken by so called secondary creases co linear breaks across a sequence of adjacent ridges A technique to au tomatically detect such creases in ngerprints is described This technique utilizes a combination of spatial ltering and region growing to identify the morphology of the locally fragmented ngerprint image Regions are then thinned to form a skeletal model of the ridge structure Creases are characterised by co linear terminations on ridges and are isolated by analysing the Hough transform space derived from the ridge end points Empirical results using both synthetic and real data are presented and

Detection of Surface Creases in Range Data
We propose a fully automatic and view-independent computational procedure for detecting salient curvature extrema in range data. Our method consists of two major steps: (1) smoothing given range data by applying a nonlinear diffusion of normals with automatic thresholding; (2) using a Canny-like non-maximum suppression and hysteresis thresholding operations for detecting crease pixels. A delica...
متن کاملA Robust Strucutural Fingerprint Restoration
Fast and accurate ridge detection in fingerprints is essential to each AFIS (Automatic Fingerprint Identification System). Smudged furrows and cut ridges in the image of a finger print are major problems in any AFIS. This paper investigates a new online ridge detection method that reduces the complexity and costs associated with the fingerprint identification procedure. The noise in fingerprint...
متن کاملReducing Light Change Effects in Automatic Road Detection
Automatic road extraction from aerial images can be very helpful in traffic control and vehicle guidance systems. Most of the road detection approaches are based on image segmentation algorithms. Color-based segmentation is very sensitive to light changes and consequently the change of weather condition affects the recognition rate of road detection systems. In order to reduce the light change ...
